There a lot of ads out there on how you can work at home as a medical biller or medical transcriptionist. The software usually need runs around $150 - $300 and normally says a list of clients is provided.
Unless you already have a medical billing background, or have done some kind of research, you know that you do have to be willing to work at this business. This can be time consuming and can take a while for you to start getting anywhere. Most medical billers that do work at home usually only work for the husbands / wives or there relatives.
The ad normally states there is a list of clients that are wanting your services. This usually isn't true either. You will need to contact this great "list" and see if they are actually interested in your services. The list of your area includes doctors and doctor's office that need your service, but in fact, if you open the yellow pages they are usually the same ones in there.
This oppurutunity is legit and can be rewarding for people that need to work at home, but do not get ahead of yourself. Before you pay the hefty startup fee for the software do a little research. Call around to local offices and doctors in your area and see if they really do need your services, this will save you a lot of time and in the long run a lot of money. If there are no doctors or offices that need your services why would you pay the huge start up fee?
Before you invest all your money into a "great oppurtunity" ask them to give a list of previous purchasers so you can call and talk to them. Be careful of these calls and they may have a list of people hired to give favorable testimonials in order to get your money. These companies charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars to get the software and the kits you need to begin.
Again, before you purchase the software and kits be sure to do a little bit of research. Find out the company that is providing the software, and then do a little bit of research on who you will be working for. Most office and doctors do there own medical billing or hire a firm to do it for them. Go through the yellow pages and call some offices and see if they need your service, if they do than you have a chance to start making some money, but if they don't, don't waste more money again.
I give this job a 2 out of 5. This is a legit business, however, there are a lot of scams out there to get your "startup fee" and run. Make sure you do your research before throwing down your money or you will be another victim of these scams. This is hard business to start up though, and many people fail and lose thousands of dollars trying to grow. You have to be patient and willing to work.

I have to agree with you that while this is a legitimate way to work at home it does require more preparation than other work at home jobs do.
I think that the reason why so many people are interested in it is because it seems like an easy way to earn money from home - which it can be but what is not mentioned is the preparation that you have to do beforehand before you can actually start to make money
nice blog, hope to see more news soon
